Chaos and Order
Chaos and order are the mutual engineers of our existence. This idea is a part of a mosaic of philosophies that spans all religions, all sciences and all cultures. Some believe that if there is balance within the coexistence of chaos and order, a pure and logical outcome occurs. I participate in this balance while producing my work. The process starts by wedging clay, and ends when I take the piece out of post fire reduction. I am trying to uphold that balance by throwing harmonious forms and applying logical and symmetrical designs, creating Order. The Chaos has many variables, the clay, the glaze, the fire, the weather ….and many unknowns. I believe the beauty lies within the Raku process. You can appreciate a sense of this balance from its aesthetics. |
